Sociological study of the role and impact of cultural consumerism lifestyle on inviromental behavior with a sustainable development approach. Case study: Citizens of Tehran metropolis

Abstract :
As one of the leading theorists of lifestyle, Bourdieu presented the most coherent discussion of the concept of lifestyle and cultural consumption. Simmel was also the first modernist sociologist to realize the importance of consumption in the social construction of modern life, and he believed that when metropolises developed, social and psychological needs in individuals contributed to the spread of consumerism ; Also, the theory of sustainable urban development raises the issues of preventing urban environmental pollution, supporting recycling and not supporting harmful development; Accordingly, the theoretical framework of the research is based on the mentioned theories.The statistical population of the study includes all residents of eight districts of Tehran who are between [18-60] years old. According to Cochran's formula, 385 people were obtained as a statistical sample, but due to the large population of the statistical population and taking into account the possible lost data, the sample size of 810 people was selected.This research has been done with a quantitative approach and with a survey method and it is a questionnaire collection tool.Findings show that there is a significant relationship between cultural consumerist lifestyle and environmental behavior.There is also a significant relationship between education, age, economic status and social status. But there is an inverse and negative relationship between gender and environmental behavior.
