The Reasons of Teaching Hospitals Selection by patients in Yazd Province for Treatment in 2016

Abstract :
Introduction: Regarding the role of hospitals in promoting public health, assessing the main factors that may be effective in patients' referring to a specific hospital than another one can determine hospitals' strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, in this study the factors affecting patients' selection of training hospitals of Yazd were scrutinized. Methods: This analytic, cross-sectional study was carried out on 226 patients hospitalized in hospitals of Yazd. A two-part questionnaire was then administered to collect data; one part consisted of demographic characteristics and the other pat investigated the effect of different factors on selection of hospitals. For data analysis, SPSS16 software and -kruskal, Mann-whitney, t-test, and ANOVA statistical procedures were used. Results: Among the three studied hospitals, factors related to "physicians' health" with an average of 15/27±3.13 and "personal effects" with a mean of 12.06±3.17 had the most important role in Shahid Sadoughi hospital. In Shahid Rahnemmon hospital, "factors related to nurses" with an average of 2/05±14/7and "factors related to the hospital" with a mean of 7/14±2/05were the most frequent factors. Finally, in Afshar hospital "factors related to physicians' health (16/18±3/47) and "factors related to the hospital" with average of 14/97± 3/30 had the most important role in patients' choices. Conclusion: patients who selected training hospitals of Yazd to improve their health, stated that “factors related to the hospital” was the most important factor in their choice. “Factors related to the treating physician” and “personal factors” played the next important roles in this regard. The findings of this study can be used by health system stakeholders to plan, organize, and evaluate health care services.
