Abstract :
This study analyzes the use and function of allegory (metaphor) in the folk poetry (songs and oral narratives) of the people of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer‑Ahmad Province, with a particular focus on motifs derived from nature. The oral literature of this region abounds with vivid imagery of mountains, rivers, oak trees, and animals, which serve as a fertile ground for conveying social, moral, and emotional meanings. The main objective of this research is to identify and categorize the common nature‑based allegories and to explain their role in reflecting the worldview, values, and beliefs of the local people.
Adopting a descriptive‑analytical method, and drawing upon field data and collected oral texts, the study explores the structure, components, and semantic depth of these allegories. The findings indicate that natural elements are not used as simple similes but rather as the core foundations of an allegorical worldview expressed in the local dialect. For instance, the oak tree symbolizes endurance, the river signifies the passage of time, and spring represents hope. These allegories provide a powerful linguistic vehicle for conveying complex social themes in a tangible and accessible form within Luri culture.
