Abstract :
This research, which is an innovative theory, deals with the psychological analysis of the "dysfunctional behaviors" of the main characters of "Lili and Majnun" by Divan Ganjavi from the perspective of Albert Ellis's "Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy" (REBT). Using Ellis's ABC model (Activating Events, Beliefs, Consequences), this study identifies and explains the "irrational beliefs" and "cognitive distortions" underlying the emotional and behavioral reactions of Lili and Majnun. By closely examining the effects of events such as separation, social constraints, and cultural expectations on the formation of irrational beliefs (such as disaster, low frustration tolerance, and a strong personality need for recognition) and the messages they convey (such as isolation, excessive fantasy, and intense emotional behavioral reactions), the present study offers a novel psychoanalytic perspective that provides a deep understanding of suffering, loneliness, and madness, and highlights the key role of irrational beliefs in intensifying emotional reactions and dysfunctional behaviors. In addition to enriching literary analyses, this study's research provides the possibility of applying REBT principles to the interpretation of literary texts and can open new doors to understanding the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in emotional and social situations.
