Abstract :
Introduction: Diabetes can bring about psychological problems for women due to its irrecoverable complications. The present study pursued the goal to compare the effect of the Fordyce’s Happiness- and Acceptance-Commitment Theory (ACT)-focused training interventions on the biological, psychological, and social indicators of type 2 diabetes suffering women. Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental one including a pre-and post-test design with a control group. Using purposeful sampling, 45 subjects assigned to three 15-subject groups were randomly selected. Then, the subjects in the two intervention groups underwent Fordyce’s Happiness- and ACT-focused Training Interventions for eight 90-minute sessions. The data were collected by Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 items (DASS-21) and Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability Scale (1960), completed before, after and two months following the intervention by all three groups.
Findings: Pursuant to the results, a tangible difference was spotted between the groups in the pre-and post-test stage and considering time impact on the variables as the mean fasting blood sugar (η2=0.871, F=150.101, p<0.001), depression (η2=0.845, F=384.054, P<0.001), anxiety (η2=0.810, F=384.341, P<0.001), stress (η2=0.614, F=59.61, P<0.001), and social desirability (η2=0.954, F=17.250, P<0.001). The study extracted results displayed that both training interventions were effective in the women with type 2 diabetes.
