Modeling academic creativity and innovation based on parental and teacher emotional support with the mediating role of academic curiosity in students of Shahrekord

Abstract :
This study investigated the role of parental and teacher emotional support in predicting students' academic creativity, along with the mediating effect of academic curiosity. The research's conceptual model was designed based on direct and indirect relationships, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SPSS 26 and AMOS 25 software was used to test it. The statistical population included secondary school students in Shahrekord in the academic year 2024-2025, from whom 260 individuals were selected through stratified random sampling. The research instruments included standard questionnaires for emotional support (22 items), academic curiosity (12 items), and academic creativity and innovation (10 items), with reliability confirmed by Cronbach's alpha between 0.75 and 0.85. Data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling in SPSS and AMOS software. The results of the model fit test indicated a good fit of the model to the research data: χ²/df = 2.31, RMSEA = 0.045, CFI = 0.94, IFI = 0.93, NFI = 0.91, GFI = 0.90, and AGFI = 0.88. The most significant paths were: direct relationships of parental support → creativity (β = 0.35, p < 0.01) and teacher support → creativity (β = 0.29, p < 0.01); as well as the impact of parental (β = 0.41, p < 0.01) and teacher (β = 0.33, p < 0.01) support on increasing curiosity, with this mediating variable acting with a direct path coefficient to creativity (β = 0.47, p < 0.01). Indirect paths of parents → curiosity → creativity (β = 0.19) and teachers → curiosity → creativity (β = 0.15) were also significant. These findings suggest that simultaneous emotional support, both directly and indirectly through promoting curiosity, provides a safe and motivating environment for the growth of academic creativity.. .
