Abstract:
Latif Helmat is one of the poets from Nowsara, Iraqi Kurdistan, who is considered one of the pioneers of children's poetry in Iran and Iraq. In terms of language, Helmat's poetry has its own special style. A language that is far from metaphor and allusions, it tries to communicate with its audience in complete simplicity. Helmat looks at issues through the eyes of children and considers children to be the companions of the clouds and the interlocutors of the wind. He puts himself in the place of children and creatively teaches children moral and educational themes in the poems he writes. But the interesting point is Helmat's strange and inherent skill in children's poetry; because children's poetry requires its own skill and spirit, and it must have a childish and pure spirit in order to be able to penetrate and have an impact on this future-building segment of society. Helmet, considering the intellectual needs and limited understanding of children, chooses a childish perspective in his poems and instead of directly advising children, indirectly takes them to the world of imagination and dreams.
The present article seeks to discuss and examine the moral and educational themes in Helmet's poetry in a descriptive-analytical manner from the perspectives of structure and content. The results obtained show that Latif Helmet, unlike other Kurdish poets, has pointed out the precious essence of morality and education in children's poemsl.
