Iran's Urban Policies in Managing Afghan Migration: Socio-Economic Impacts on Regional Development

Abstract :
One of the prominent issues that has attracted a lot of attention in recent years is the migration of Afghans to Iran and the social and economic policies of the Islamic Republic towards it. Given that a large number of Afghan migrants enter Iran every year, it has created challenges for the country and at the same time, opportunities.And it has created new complexities for policymaking. The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze the social and economic policies of the Islamic Republic towards Afghan migration to Iran and its effects. Based on this, the question is: What are the social and economic policies of the Islamic Republic towards Afghan migration to Iran and what effects have they had?The research method in this article is descriptive-analytical and the findings indicate that the social and economic policies of the Islamic Republic towards Afghan migration to Iran include various aspects that have affected the migration process and the life of the Afghan community in Iran. These policies have been facilitating in some cases,Such as providing educational and health facilities, but in some cases it has been accompanied by restrictions that have had a negative impact on the social and economic integration of migrants. The effects of these policies have included increased cultural and economic interaction between the two countries, but also social challenges such as pressure on the resources of the host country and the need for strategic migration management policies.
