Examining the reasons for the adaptation and alignment of the Islamic Republic of Iran foreign policy with the realism model with an emphasis on the security dilemma

Abstract :
The present study aims to provide an answer to the central question of what characteristics the foreign policy of the Republic of Iran has from a theoretical perspective and conceptual framework, and what models should be followed. The format and pattern of each country's foreign policy is a set of strategies, goals, ideals, and security, strategic, economic, political, and cultural needs that are crystallized based on the level and alignment with the capabilities and limitations of that country. The main question of this research is: What are the most important reasons for the adherence of the Islamic Republic of Iran's foreign policy to the theory of realism? In response, it should be said that the Republic of Iran has had a kind of strategic isolation during historical periods due to being invaded, the presence of belligerent actors, an unstable surrounding environment, and the lack of a natural and real environment. The findings show that the theory of realism, despite its fundamental assumptions of state-centeredness, survival-centeredness, self-help, anarchy, and security dilemma, is completely consistent and coherent in content with the foreign policy model of the Republic of Iran and This indicates that the Islamic Republic of Iran, given the global conditions and the communications revolution, needs to pay more attention to the issue of governance in order to provide reliable and inclusive foreign policy approaches to Iranian society by relying on and strengthening internal power in order to maximize power. The research method is descriptive-analytical and the method of collecting resources is library and internet
