The relationship between primary maladaptive schemas, sexual knowledge and attitudes with marital infidelity in female nurses working in teaching hospitals in Kermanshah

Abstract :
Introduction: The aim of the present study was to determine the relationship between early maladaptive schemas, sexual knowledge and attitudes and marital infidelity attitudes in female nurses working in teaching hospitals in Kermanshah.
Method: The present study is of an applied type and the method of implementation is of a correlation type, considering its purpose. The statistical population consists of all female nurses working in teaching hospitals in Kermanshah in 2022-2023. In this study, the available sampling method was used, and 188 people were selected as the sample size. The data collection tools included the Young and Brown Early Maladaptive Schema Questionnaire (1999), Besharat et al.'s Sexual Knowledge and Attitude (2005), and Mark Whiteley's Marital Infidelity (2006). Descriptive data analysis (frequency, mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Kolmogrov-Smironov test and Pearson correlation coefficient and regression) were used.
Findings: The results of the analysis showed that there is a significant relationship between early maladaptive schemas and sexual knowledge and attitude with marital infidelity in female nurses working in teaching hospitals in Kermanshah city (P<0.05). Also, early maladaptive schema, sexual knowledge and attitude have the ability to predict marital infidelity in female nurses working in teaching hospitals in Kermanshah city.
Conclusion: As a result, it can be said that early maladaptive schemas are an important and influential factor in promoting mental health, and by identifying the factors along with proper planning, the level of sexual knowledge and attitude can be increased and marital infidelity can be reduced.
