Analysis of Socio-Cultural Strategies Aimed at Influencing the Purchasing Behavior of the Iranian Progressive Generation

Abstract :
Cultural, social, and technological transformations have significantly influenced the purchasing behavior of the Iranian progressive generation. This study aims to identify the cultural and social dimensions and components that impact the purchasing behavior of this generation. The research population consists of experts in the field of culture and university professors in marketing. Using a qualitative content analysis approach, the data collected from semi-structured interviews were analyzed and categorized according to the Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) method. A total of 45 sub-categories were identified, which were then grouped into 13 main categories and 4 general clusters within a five-level model. These categories included cultural and social characteristics of the progressive generation in purchasing, cultural and social strategies in sales, cultural transformations in the progressive generation's shopping experience, and new technologies. The results indicate that the progressive generation is influenced by digital interactions, social networks, user opinions, and reference groups. Quick communication, short messages, and engaging videos play a key role in their purchasing decisions. Additionally, the social values and corporate responsibility of brands in environmental and social areas significantly affect the trust and loyalty of this generation. On the other hand, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and augmented reality play a crucial role in enhancing the shopping experience for the progressive generation. These findings can assist businesses and brands in developing marketing strategies tailored to the cultural and social characteristics of this generation.
