The Meaning of Life and Meaning Therapy in "The Conference of the Birds" Based on Viktor Frankl's Theory

Abstract :

Attar views life as having both form and meaning, similar to other phenomena. In his belief, the form of life holds value only to the extent that it embodies its meaning. However, the true value of life stems from its inner meaning. This focus on inner significance directs his perspective on the meaning of life and leads him to reflect on the factors that create meaning and those that destroy it. He strives to act as a "meaning therapist" to help his audience find meaning in their shattered lives and, as much as possible, to resist the destructive forces of meaning. The data from this research, based on Viktor Frankl's theory of meaning therapy, is a library that has been categorized and analyzed using qualitative research methods. The results indicate that Attar, centuries before Frankl, identified the fundamental problem of people's lives as meaninglessness and sought to teach ways to infuse life with meaning to his audience. In his view, humanity, love, knowledge, self-awareness, individuality, and acceptance of responsibility give life its meaning, while the self and the world more than any other factors strip life of its meaning.
