Abstract :
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks combined exercise with and without pomegranate juice on metabolic syndrome indices in overweight middle-aged women. The present study was descriptive research. Statistical population were selected from middle-aged women in 9 province of Mashhad. Statistical sample in age of 40 to 50 years old, randomly divided into 3 groups of 10 people (group 1: control did not perform any activity, group 2: combined pomegranate juice consumption and group 3: combination exercise Before and after performing the aerobic-resistance training program). Initial measurements were taken, including weight, height, fasting blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, plasma lipoproteins, and insulin resistance. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the three groups in glycemic index, glycated hemoglobin and insulin resistance, low density lipoprotein and high density lipoprotein (p < 0.05). Glycated glycemic index and insulin resistance and low density lipoprotein decreased pre-test to post-test in all three groups (p < 0.05). High-density lipoprotein index increased significantly in both groups from pre-test to post-test (p < 0.05). The results showed that a period of aerobic resistance training with or without pomegranate juice improved glycemic index, glycated hemoglobin and insulin resistance, low density lipoprotein and high density lipoprotein.
