The aim of the current research was to analyze the role of developmentalist foreign policy in enhancing the geopolitical weight of countries (with an emphasis on Turkey's foreign policy in the South Caucasus). The current research is a type of applied development studies, which was compiled with a descriptive-analytical approach and with the document research method in the framework of the developmentist government theory. The statistical population of the research is among the defense-security-political experts and activists of the country, which includes the armed forces, national organizations, universities and related groups, and 11 people were purposefully selected for
qualitative interviews on the subject of the research in order to collect data using The library method, including document review, documentary reports, authentic scientific articles (1990 to 2024), and authentic websites in the field of the research topic and semi-structured interviews were used. After the interview questions were formulated through the study of theoretical research literature, before conducting the interview, the interviewees were selected through purposeful and snowball sampling, and among these, those who had more experience in relation to the research topic were selected. Inductive qualitative content analysis was used to analyze the qualitative data. The findings of the research showed that the
developmentist foreign policy can be effective in improving Turkey's regional and extra-regional geopolitical position in the South Caucasus region in three political-security, social and economic areas. The results also showed that the developmentist foreign policy is effective in managing extra-regional geopolitical crises. Turkey can be effective in the South Caucasus region in three areas: political-security crisis, social crisis and economic crisis.
