Abstract :
The tourism industry is one of the largest service industries in the world in terms of revenue generation and has a great impact on the gross domestic product and employment of countries. Iran is also among the countries that have good capabilities and capacities to attract foreign tourists, but due to some obstacles and shortcomings, it has not been able to succeed in this. Now the question is why Iran, despite its significant capabilities in the field of tourism, has not been able to succeed in attracting foreign tourists. The purpose of the present study is to examine the political obstacles to the entry of foreign tourists into Iran. The research method in the present article is descriptive-analytical based on library sources. The research findings indicate that due to religious strictness, suspicion of the entry of foreign tourists, lack of amenities and transportation, and Iranophobic propaganda by Western countries, foreign tourists are not very willing to visit Iran.
