Preventing Corruption in Sports: Identifying Solutions to Reduce Corruption in Sports

Abstract :

Abstract

Introduction: Sports corruption is one of the serious challenges in the world of sports that can affect the credibility, integrity, and competitive spirit of this field. To combat this phenomenon, effective mechanisms for preventing corruption need to be established. Therefore, the aim of this research is to identify methods for preventing corruption in sports.

Method: This type of study typically includes specific and innovative methods, open and closed questions, and various types of data, leading to content analysis and final conclusions based on the findings. For sampling in in-depth interviews, purposeful sampling techniques were used. Participants in this study included professors, specialists, experts, and authorities in the field of Corruption in sports. To analyze the data, thematic analysis methods were employed, involving coding and identifying categories from the interview texts.

Results: Overall, the findings identified eight essential factors for preventing corruption in sports in Iran: financial transparency, education and awareness-raising, reward systems, stringent laws and regulations, reporting channels, independent oversight, cultural promotion, and international cooperation.

Conclusion: Ultimately, it was determined that education and cultural promotion regarding sports ethics and anti-corruption should be included in the educational programs of sports institutions. Additionally, revising and strengthening laws and regulations related to sports and sporting activities is also of special importance.
