The discourse of power in the stories "A City Like Heaven", "The Devil's Stones" and "Haji Agha's Daughter" based on Michel Foucault's perspective

Abstract :
Michel Foucault was born in France in 1926 and in his middle age he proposed the theory of discourse and power. In his view, there is a relationship between power, knowledge and truth and how power can arise from language and be effective in writing, how to write and what to write. This essay explores the elements of power and discourse based on Michel Foucault’s theory and first discusses feminism and the theoretical foundations of power and discourse, then explains Foucault’s ideas and power and discourse in literary writings, and then analyzes three short stories, “A City Like Heaven” by Simin Daneshvar, “The Stones of Satan” by Moniro Ravanipour and “The Daughter of Haji Agha” by Zahra Kadkhodayan based on Foucault’s discourse. In this study, we will use a summary of these three stories to explain the latent elements of power within the discourses in order to determine the atmosphere that governs these stories and how they were formed based on social and cultural powers, patriarchal and class, geographical, traditional, superstitious, family, etc. In the meantime, the traditional atmosphere, far from modernist ideas, is the most important characteristic of such stories.
