Abstract :
Objective: The present study was conducted to investigate the views of librarians of Ahvaz public libraries on the use of artificial intelligence technologies in personal and organizational activities.
Methodology: The present study was applied in terms of purpose and was conducted using a descriptive-survey method. The statistical population included 100 librarians of Khuzestan public libraries who were selected by simple random sampling. The research tool was a questionnaire (Wood and Evans, 2018), whose reliability coefficient was estimated at 0.83. The data were analyzed using SPSS and Excel software.
Results: The findings showed that 88 percent of librarians use artificial intelligence in their personal lives. And 55 percent stated that it has the most positive impact on their personal lives. Also, 67 percent of respondents use artificial intelligence services in the form of Google. Regarding the use of artificial intelligence in organizational activities, 83 percent stated that they do not have access to this technology in the library. But 79 percent are interested in using it in their organization. 44 percent of librarians believe that libraries are not prepared to use artificial intelligence. But 55 percent pointed to the potential of artificial intelligence to improve the quality and quantity of library services and activities. Also, 60 percent predicted that artificial intelligence will replace some of the job duties of librarians.
Conclusion: In order to use artificial intelligence, libraries need to consider sufficient budgets to purchase and maintain this technology. Also, it is necessary to provide library human resources with the necessary training and expertise in the field of artificial intelligence so that they can use this technology effectively.
