Abstract :
Objective: The overall objective of the present study was to design a model of police management in combating vandalism in Iranian sports.
Methods: The present study was a qualitative study that used thematic analysis approach. The statistical population of this study consisted of sports sociology experts, managers, and security assistants of selected stadiums, which included about 7 people. The sampling method was snowball and continued until theoretical saturation was reached. After conducting the interview, selective coding, axial coding, and open codes were extracted, and then the qualitative research paradigm was presented. The findings showed that police management in combating vandalism in Iranian sports consisted of 85 codes and 4 categories (management and planning, security strategies, security infrastructure, and trans-organizational interactions), 9 secondary concepts, and 85 primary concepts, and the qualitative research paradigm was presented.
Results: The findings of the present study showed that management and planning included three core codes of security organization, integrated security approach, and training and practice of security forces, the security strategies dimension included two core codes of cultural and educational strategies and preventive strategies, the security infrastructure dimension included two core codes of smart software and smart hardware, and the trans-organizational interactions dimension included two core codes of interactions with relevant institutions and interactions with fan clubs.
Conclusion: Therefore, it is suggested that by using new security systems and cameras, we have better control over the factors that cause vandalism in sports clubs. Also, cultural education and the use of psychological experts went to combat this phenomenon.
