Abstract :
Introduction: Higher education promotes ethical leadership and pioneers changes at the level of society. Guiding people in the right path to achieve sustainable development requires a special type of leadership that links ethical values and sustainability to lifestyle. The purpose of the research was to design a logical model of "sustainable ethical leadership" with the Islamic approach in the higher education system for university administrators.
research methodology: The research approach was a systematic review synthesis study using a six-step systematic review approach (Klewitz & Hansen, 2014).1- Identifying keywords: ethical leadership, consequences of ethical leadership, sustainable development, characteristics of sustainable leadership, consequences of sustainable leadership, sustainable ethical leadership, and guiding words of university and higher education were searched from valid databases such as Noormags, Civilica, SID, Scopus, Science Direct, and ProQuest. 2- Inclusion and exclusion criteria for articles: Two criteria were considered: First: Date of topic proposal: Articles from 1986 as the year of the beginning of the discussion on ethical leadership until 2024, and second: validity of sources: Articles were selected from valid databases determined in the first step.3- Search in the literature: The articles were reviewed and screened. 4-Extraction: The reviewed articles were classified into three levels: fully relevant, somewhat relevant, and irrelevant. 5- Descriptive analysis: Relevant studies were classified in the descriptive studies table based on the researcher's name, year, and results. 6- Content analysis: Basic, organizing, and comprehensive themes were extracted from the final articles. In order to achieve the validity of the data, criteria of credibility, reliability, and triangulation were used.
Findings: 60 basic themes in 6 organizing themes of the first level (inputs, functions, outputs and short-term, medium-term and long-term consequences) and 2 comprehensive themes (processes and consequences) were placed and the logical model of sustainable ethical leadership in higher education with the Islamic approach was designed.
Conclusion: The application of this model in the selection, employment and training of university managers can be the basis for achieving success and sustainable development, material comfort and spiritual peace.
