The Effect of Boundary Spanning of Academics on the Entrepreneurial Intention of Faculty Members with the Mediation of Job Crafting

Abstract :
Introduction: Today, Due to its influential role in the economic growth of countries, entrepreneurship is considered a basic element of modern economy and it is a part of academic research. Therefore, the aim of the research was to investigate the effect of academics' boundary spanning on the entrepreneurship intention of faculty members with the mediation of job crafting. research methodology: The research method was quantitative, descriptive-correlation based on structural equations. The research population was 2189 faculty members of public universities in Tehran. The data were collected with the questionnaires of academicians' boundary spanning, entrepreneurship intention and job crafting. Data analysis was done using structural equation modeling based on partial least squares. Findings: The findings showed that boundary spanning of academics has a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial intention (0.431) and job crafting (0.376), academics' boundary spanning has a positive and significant effect on job crafting (0.425). Also, the indirect effect of boundary spanning on entrepreneurial intention through job crafting is 0.160. Conclusion: in order to improve the entrepreneurial intention of faculty members, the development of academic boundary spanning should be given attention to by university managers and job crafting should be given to the attention of faculty members.
