The Impact of Life Skills Training on Marital Satisfaction, Marital Dissatisfaction and Mental Health of Veteran’s Wife

Abstract :

    This study aimed to investigate the effect of life skills training on marital satisfaction, marital dissatisfaction and mental health of spouse of veteran. The research was quasi-experimental. Population study included wives of veterans with 25 to 50 percent of disability in Islamabad West. The study sample consisted of 30 patients randomly divided into two groups of experimental group (n = 15) and control group (n = 15) who answered Enrich’s marital satisfaction questionnaire (Short Form), Pines’ marital dissatisfaction and Goldberg’s public health. experimental group for 9 sessions, one session in a week had life skill training and the control group received no intervention. Then two groups took post-test. Analysis of covariance was performed to analyze the data. The results of showed that between experimental and control groups after the implementation of life skills education, there is a significant difference in marital dissatisfaction, marital satisfaction and mental health. The dissatisfaction with marriage, marital satisfaction and mental health of test and pre-test group and the control group was significantly decreased and increased, respectively. Life skill training is effective to reduce boredom and increase marital satisfaction and mental health of veterans’ wives
