Abstract :
The formation and expansion of informal settlements in villages located Around the cities, especially in the region of Tehran, have always been expanding and has brought various effects and consequences. Identifying, analyzing, and evaluating these effects and consequences in rural areas is of particular importance due to the nature of the phenomenon, the method of organization, and management, and many other dimensions. This research is developmental-applied in terms of purpose, descriptive-analytical in terms of content, and a combination in terms of method. The analysis of data obtained from documentary and field studies was carried out in two stages. First, through interviews with experts and using content analysis, coding, and classification in MAX-Q-D-A software, concepts and terms related to the subject were identified. In the next step, to validate the concepts, data from 20 sample villages located within different ranges of the Tehran city limits were collected through questionnaires completed by 120 managers and knowledgeable local individuals. Statistical tests and inferential statistics including mean, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, and one-sample T-test were used for analysis. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Duncan's post hoc test, and Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) interpolation method were used to assess differences, categorize villages, and spatially present the effects and consequences of the formation of informal settlements in villages. Based on the research results, out of 49 identified concepts, 43 concepts were categorized into 7 main axes including; legal ambiguities and conflicts; managerial-executive challenges and vacuums; economic-livelihood gaps and deficiencies; social-cultural damages and conflicts; natural-environmental hazards and damages; functional-operational changes and transformations; spatial-physical changes and alterations as the effects and consequences of the formation of informal settlements in the studied villages with different intensities and scopes in the south and east of Tehran's region were identified and confirmed.
