Analyzing the comparative role of spatial relations of houses on understanding the integrity of space with emphasis on the dialectic of inside and outside

Abstract :

Home is a realm as much as a collection of physical and mental sensations. The concept of house is intertwined with the concept of space and space creates interactions. The house evokes the sense of residence, peace, etc., which creates spatial qualities and functional characteristics.

This article peruses the interaction of spatial relations and syntax theory and its effect on the coherent understanding of space, with emphasis on the dialectic of inside and outside. Its purpose is to prove the need for the existence of all spaces of this dialectic. Thus, 6 cases were selected. The research methods are descriptive, analytical, and logical reasoning.

We concluded that the more external the space, the higher the instengration, connection and isovist, and the more internal the space, the higher the angular depth, gate count and mean depth. Besides there is no single pattern for coexistence of spaces, but the presence of all spaces of dialectic causes integration.
