Abstract :
Germination and initial growth of small seeds in field conditions is difficult and requires more care and attention. Covering small seeds, especially with moisture absorbing materials, can overcome these problems in field conditions. In addition, the materials needed for better seed germination and growth can be used together with absorbents to improve growth and production. according to the above mentioned, the aim of this study is to investigate the effect of coating german chamomile seeds with various moisture absorbents (control, super absorbent a200, polyacrylate hydrogel and hydroxyethyl cellulose absorbent) reinforced with various materials (no application, treatment moisture absorbent with hormone, moisture absorbent treatment with food and moisture absorbent treatment with food and plant hormones) were on the percentage of field green, growth, flower production and essential oil. This experiment was performed in three replications based on a randomized complete block design. Based on the results obtained from this investigation, moisture absorbents had a positive effect on all traits. The highest dry weight of shoot, number of flowers and percentage of green field were obtained in polyacrylate hydrogel treatment. However, the combined use of plant hormones and food had a more definitive effect on all traits than the use of each one alone. So that the moisture absorbent treatment with food and plant hormones increased the number of flowers produced, which is the medicinal and economic part of chamomile, by 43%. In general, due to the medicinal importance of chamomile essential oil, the combined use of food and plant hormones with each of the super absorbent a200, polyacrylate hydrogel and hydroxyethyl cellulose absorbent is desirable.
