Comparison of the decorations of Tabriz Blue Mosque and Maragheh Observatory

Abstract :

Artists and architects in smaller communities built religious and non-religious buildings with local facilities and methods in different conditions, because each region had a special taste and taste in architecture, special styles and styles emerged, generally in terms of building materials and the shape of buildings that They were built in different parts of Azerbaijan. There is a similarity that is less seen in the buildings of other parts of Iran. This article tries to answer these questions: firstly, what are the similarities between the decorations of the Blue Mosque of Tabriz in Maragheh Observatory, and secondly, what are the differences between this building in the decorations? The tiling decoration of the Blue Mosque is made only in azure color and mainly with hexagonal pieces. Maragheh observatory tile decorations in two colors, turquoise and burnt brown, are cut in more than sixteen types. Descriptive and analytical research method has been carried out by examining library documents and field studies. Findings have shown that both buildings used tiles in their decorations, but in the decorations of the Blue Mosque, more than the mosaic tiles were used, and in the Maragha observatory, mostly Moqli decorations.
