Abstract :
Breast is symbol of femininity. loss of the breast would somehow reduce femininity and sexual attractiveness of women. The aim of the present study was to compare the effectiveness of integrative psychotherapy, spiritual therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy on sexual dysfunction in women with breast cancer. For this purpose, in a semi-experimental study with pre-test, post-test and control group, 60 women with breast cancer of Shohadaye-Tajrish Hospital in Tehran were selected by Convenience sampling method and randomly divided into 3 experimental groups and 1 control group. The sexual experience of groups was tested before and after research and two months afterward the interventions. Separate group therapy sessions were presented for all three groups once a week for 8 sessions in 90 minutes. The result of multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA), indicated that integrative psychotherapy, cognitive -behavior therapy, and spiritual therapy were effective on the sexual performance of patients under training, and this effect was consistent in the follow-up test. It seems that these therapies, along with other interventions such as medication and medical interventions, can be effective in reducing sexual dysfunction in these patients.
