Determining the role of Interactive patterns and caregiving behaviors in predicting marital commitment

Abstract :
Commitment is one of the most important predictors of individual's tendency for staying in marriage and the determined factor for anticipating duration and quality of it. Concerning the importance of cultural factors in this matter, the aim of this research was determining the role of Interactive patterns and caregiving behaviors of married people in predicting their marital commitment”. The population included 120 married people who were selected by using convenience sampling method from 5 areas in Tehran (north, south, east and west) and their Marital Commitment, Interactions and caregiving behaviors were assessed. Findings showed positive and negative communicational patterns could predict moral and personal commitment. Also the Proximity Maintenance and the Sensitive caregiving behavior could predict moral commitment as well as the Sensitivity and the Compulsive Caregiving could predict personal commitment. In addition, positive and negative pattern, sensitive and controlling caregiving behaviors could predict moral commitment and proximity maintenance and positive communicational pattern could predict personal commitment. Result of the study showed that communicational and caring styles developed based on attachment patterns of married people take an important role in marital commitment. Then by improving communicational patterns and positive caring behaviors between couples, it will be able to helping increase moral and personal commitment.
