The effect of yoga exercises on job satisfaction and burnout of female employees of Islamic Azad University of Medical Sciences, Tehran

Abstract :
Yoga exercises are known as an effective method for reducing psychological stress and improving both physical and mental wellbeing . In high - stress work environments such as universities, employees- especially women- are more likely to experience job burnout. Yoga can play a positive role in enhancing job satisfaction by improving concentration, reducing anxiety, and promoting overall quality of life. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of yoga exercises on job satisfaction and burnout of female employees of Islamic Azad University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. This randomized clinical trial was performed in 1399 in Tehran on 40 female employees. Candidates were randomly divided into control and exercise groups. The training group (20 people) performed two sessions of yoga exercises per week for 12 weeks. The control group (20 people) performed only daily activities. Data were collected using the Stamps and Piedmonte (1986) job satisfaction questionnaire, which included 36, and the Maslach and Jackson (1981) burnout questionnaire, which included 22 questions, before and after 12 weeks of training in both groups. The face and content validity of the research tool was confirmed by a group of expert professors. Reliability was also reported through Cronbach's alpha test of 0.79 and 0.76, respectively. Data were analyzed using independent t-test and paired t-test. The results showed that yoga exercises have a significant effect on job satisfaction and burnout of female employees of Tehran Islamic Azad University of Medical Sciences. In conclusion, the findings of this study may offer practical solutions for improving working conditions and promoting employees’ mental health. Also, it is possible that the managers and officials of the University of Medical Sciences feel that exercising disrupts the work of employees, so the managers of the University of Medical Sciences are offered a sports initiative to help and take care of the health and well-being of employees in the workplace. This smart and informed decision can save organization costs in the long run
