Investigating the Principles of Modern Urban Design and Traditional Urban Planning in the Design of Cities in the Central Desert of Iran (Case study: Abshahi Neighborhood of Yazd)

Abstract :

The development pattern of today's cities has moved away from traditional methods and the quality of life in cities has decreased and has become alien to the socio-cultural needs of the Iranian people. This trend has caused the historical parts of large cities to lose their traditional identity and be separated from modern urban developments. One of these cities is the city of Yazd and Abshahi neighborhood. And many other problems. The main purpose of this study is to study and analyze the pattern of urban planning in the Abshahi neighborhood of Yazd and the role of traditional patterns in modern urban planning and localization of modern patterns with Iranian-Islamic culture. In fact, achieving the importance of what urban design should be in the inner core of Shahrizad to provide sustainability, causing aspects of traditional Iranian design have a sustainable nature and can be reused to create a new socio-cultural identity and responded to specific social needs in urban planning. In this research, descriptive-analytical, qualitative-field, survey and historical research methods have been used with the help of Holdern model and quartile distribution. The results of this study show that traditional and modern urban planning, not only do not oppose each other, but together achieve a sustainable and environmentally friendly urban design.
