Abstract :
This study was done on Yellofin seabream (Acanthopagrus latus), caught from Persian Gulf in Bandar-e-Mahshahr in Summer,2009. After biometrical measurements, the skin and muscle tissue of 15 randomly selected fish were separated using standard method of MOOPAM 1999. The two metals were extracted from skin and muscle tissues using Closed Digestion method and asidic mixture. Concentrations of the heavy metals were measured by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (FAAS PERKIN ELMER4100). Mean concentration for lead in skin and muscle tissue in Yellofin seabream were 1.98 ± 0.7 and 2.96 ± 0.71ppm/dry weight, respectively. Also, The Mean concentration for cadmium in skin and muscle tissue in Yellofin seabream were 1.87 ± 0.43 and 1.03 ± 0.33, respectively. The results showed that there is a significant difference between lead and cadmium concentrations in skin and muscle tissue in Yellofin seabream (P <0.05). Also, the results showed that Pb and Cd concentrations in Yellofin seabream was higher than levels of recommended by World Health Organization WHO, NHMRC and the UK (MAFF).
