Det ermining cost-benefit of databases subscription in Islamic Azad University, Rudehen Branch

Abstract :
The aim of the present research is the investigation of importance of establishing full-text articles databases and determination of its cost-benefit from the view point of faculty members, students and staff of Islamic Azad University (IAU), Rudehen Branch. The statistical population of this research is the faculty members, students and the staff of IAU Rudehen Branch. In this research the needed data was collected through survey/descriptive method. The results are based on important factors in establishing an information centres such as space, facilities, information sources, management and staff, users, services, costs, organization of materials, budget, network and softwares. According to the research results it was found that the establishment of Internet centres and full-text databases not only haven’t any benefit for the University, but also have to bear a loss. But, users including faculty members, students and staff take all the intellectual benefits which in turn can lead to intellectual value for the University. It seems that most of intellectual benefits received by professors and faculty members according to the factors are: 1) easy access to information, 2) subscribed databases have free information, and 3) Less payment for accessing to needed information.
