A survey on status of college and research center libraries websites in Shahid Beheshti University

Abstract :
Purpose: Current research wants to evaluate content and structure of college and research centers websites in Shahid Beheshti Univeristy and ranking these websites. Methdology: Research method is a survey and descriptive study. Data gathering tool was a checkklist that was arranged on basis of Mansourian (2011) paper. Using literature review and Mansourian checklist, 53 elements were extracted. Population consists of all college and research center library websites. Data were extracted from March to May 2013. All websites were observed and studied using checklist. Findings: Among total 11 studied college library websites in Shahid Beheshti Universiy, Education Science & Psychology, Law and Theology colleges websites were top 3. They had 19, 14 and 13 essential elements in their websites. Findings revealed that studied websites could not interact with their users. Current study indicated that Family research center library website had 13 elements in the first rank. This is a top research center website but it is not a usable website for its users. Conclusion: It is necessary for librarians and managers of college and research center libraries in Shahid Beheshti University to use outputs of current research. They can change structure of their website and enrich them and using educational, research and service information. If they modify content and structure of their website, they can provide useful and update services for their users. Finally, it is suggested to evaluate usability of college and research centers websites in Shahid Beheshti Univeristy from users view in a separated research.
