The processes of political-social discrimination and ethnic identity (Case Study: Youth of Sanandaj and Qorveh)

Abstract :
Ethnic identity and escalation and its prominence is one of the important social issues of the multicultural countries. T In this regard, the present study attempts to investigate the status of ethnic identity among young people in Sanandaj and Qarveh as two different patterns in Kurdistan province with different backgrounds and ethnic backgrounds. This descriptive-correlational study was carried out using survey technique. The statistical population includes the young people living in Sanandaj and Ghorveh of Kurdistan province who were selected from the population based on the method of estimating Cochran sample and 360 people using cluster sampling method. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to collect data. The results of the analysis indicate that the mean score of the youths of the two cities of Qorveh and Sanandaj is significant in all dimensions of ethnic orientation and ethnicity (in general). One of the most important factors in this regard is the religious background variable (Qorveh of the majority of Shiite and Sanandaj majority of Sunnis). So that the average ethnic orientation among young people from Sanandaj is higher than the average youth of Qorveh. Also, the analytical results of the research, on the one hand, indicate the direct relation between political, cultural and socio-economic discrimination with ethnic orientations (political, cultural, socio-economic, and ethno-ethnic). On the other hand, there is a direct relationship between the communication medium and the types of ethno-oriented tendencies; in this sense, as each of these variables increases, people's tendency towards ethnicity tends to increase.
