Abstract :

Religious buildings in Iranian-Islamic architecture have a special place in terms of layout in addition to layout. Tehran, as one of the oldest cities in Iran, has various religious buildings, especially from the Qajar period. The mosque-school of Sheikh Abdul Hossein has been studied in the current research as an example of the Qajar period. The main goal of the upcoming research, while briefly recognizing the structure and architectural decorations of the mentioned building, is in a way aimed at analyzing the decorative arrays of the Qajar period in religious buildings.The proposed objective is to answer the question, which are the most important decorative arts used in Sheikh Abdul Hossein Mosque-Madrasa while explaining the points of difference and similarity? What main components do these arts contain in terms of appearance structure, fit with architectural structure, as well as role and content? This research is comparative in terms of approach and descriptive-analytical in terms of method, data collection was done through documentary and field observations and the information was analyzed qualitatively.The findings of the research show that the mosque mentioned in this research, while having similarities with other mosques in terms of structure, has significant differences in terms of building dimensions and execution quality; Arts such as calligraphy, traditional goldsmithing, tapestry, gilding on plaster, etc.
