Abstract :
General gap is an important issue in contemporary societies and as a problem has attracted the attention of many social researchers. In this regard, this article aims to present a sociological analysis of inter-generational gap and students’ conflict in discourse with urban society’s value system. A quantitative research method and a questionnaire were used to gather the data. Research population consisted of Tehrani students and their parents of whom, on the basis of Cochran formual 985 individuals were selected through a cluster sampling technique. Structural equation modeling was used in the analysis of the data. The findings showed that independent variables such as gender, peer groups, family moral values, educational atmosphere, national mass media, socioeconomic status, and aspects of globalization were significantly associated with inter-generational gap and students’ conflict in discourse with urban society’s value system. The findings showed that national mass media with a coefficient of 0.50 had the most impact and socioeconomic status with a coefficient of 0.10 had the least effect. It was also found that obligation to values with a coefficient of -0.69 was inversely related to the dependent variable. All the independent variables together could explain 0.53 percent of variance of the dependent variable.
