Objective: The purpose of this research is to explain the sociology of the inhibiting factors in women's sports participation using foundational data theory (Glaser's approach). Methodology The current research method is qualitative and exploratory. The statistical population included university professors and experts. Field of study and having scientific publications related to the subject, having managerial positions and executive experience in the field of sports sociology and women's sports were among the selection indicators of the initial list of experts. The sampling method was used as non-probability sampling, with targeted selection and with maximum diversity or heterogeneity. The sample size in this research was equal to 16 people based on the theoretical saturation index. The measurement tool was an open interview and was analyzed based on three stages of open, central and selective coding, which was analyzed with the help of Maxqda version 12 software. Results: Based on the data analysis of 82 primary concepts, 7 main categories were identified. Then, 7 theoretical theorems based on the paradigm model of foundation data theory (Glaser's approach) were proposed for the factors inhibiting women's sports participation with a sociological analysis approach. The identified indicators included cultural inhibiting factors, social inhibiting factors, economic and financial inhibiting factors, manpower inhibiting factors, families' attitudes, facilities and equipment, and advertising and media. Conclusion: In the end, it can be stated that the identified factors can be a suitable platform for removing the inhibiting factors for women's sports participation.
