The city is a collection of natural, social, and human-recognized environmental factors, in which the concentrated resident population has a specific identity. An identity that distinguishes the city from other cities and gives meaning to the population living in it. This particular personality and identity are defined and described by different components. These components, which form the essential structure of the city based on differences in form, content, and function, are different in different cities. Therefore, this study aims to explain and examine visual and semantic cues in segmental identity. This research is a nested mixed method in terms of the type of development application and terms of method. In the qualitative method, the Delphi system is used to validate the extraction of variables. In a quantitative step, regression and Pearson correlation methods were used to determine the contribution of each component. The results show that in the Fahadan neighborhood of Yazd, the highest share is related to the components of the concept of space, with the value (1.000) and then cryptography with the value (0.968). The lowest share is related to the element of nature with the amount (0.457). Increasing the puzzle and the concept of space leads to a deeper knowledge of space and increases the sense of ownership over it. As the sense of belonging to the space increases, the perceptual richness increases, and a suitable behavioral environment is created. تفاصيل المقالة

2 - Energy Consumption in the Traditional Houses based on the Cold and Dry Climate (Case Study: Mashhad's Traditional Houses)

Traditional Iranian architecture has always been held up as a model, showing how climatic elements like geometry, orientation, materials, configuration, and spatial structure can be used appropriately for a proper design. Due to the efficiency of this architecture in energy consumption, it is considered as a solution for modern architecture in this field. In traditional Iranian architecture, solutions such as winter and summer residences have been provided to optimize energy consumption in buildings with higher energy consumption. This study aimed to evaluates the energy consumption of traditional houses and measuring the efficiency of these buildings in the energy field. The research methodology with a quantitative approach is the simulation of energy performance. For this purpose, the traditional houses of Mashhad city are divided into three groups, one-way, two-way, and three-way firstly, and one sample is randomly selected from samples. The simulation tools are two plugins, Ladybug and Honeybee, on the Grasshopper platform. The energy consumption results have been compared and labeled based on the residential rate standard of Iran's National Standard Organization. The results show that different types of traditional residential buildings can be in acceptable categories of energy efficiency so that they can get the energy label. Moreover, it was revealed that the winter and summer residence solution in the larger buildings has a significant effect the energy consumption in the desired seasons. The innovation of this case study lies in the heart of its major conclusions, as the conducted analysis can compete with those presented in the literatur. تفاصيل المقالة

Genius loci is a lost concept in the spatial quality of today's homes. The starting point of this transformation is the Pahlavi historical period with new developments in Iranian architecture when by imitating Western architecture, it led to the creation of a mask alien to Iranian culture on the spirit of home and city architecture. In order to solve this problem, identifying the types of houses in the Pahlavi period with the help of identifying their architectural context can be effective in developing indicators that improve the Genius loci in today's homes. In this article, which is part of a research by examining the species of Pahlavi house in Mashhad; the refinement of these indicators and the compilation of a model of them with the help of Delphi method and Shannon technique are considered. The main 2 question of this stage of the research is, firstly, how the interaction between typology and architectural developments can help improve the Genius loci today, and secondly, what are the effective indicators on improving the Genius loci in the field of contemporary housing and how can achieve them? In order to answer the questions, in the first stage of the research, based on the fundamental theory method, the proposed initial model was developed based on a review of sources and residents' opinions. Then, by collecting the theories of a circle of 12 experts from the field of housing during four stages of interviews and questionnaires, the validity of the model was performed and the data obtained from their agreement were collected and analyzed using the Shannon technique. Finally, the final model of the research was developed based on 12 main indicators and 45 sub-indices in 4 effective categories. The most effective indicators on sensory perception are in the perceptual-cognitive category with an impact weight of (0.0537). The most important influential dimension is the cognitive category, which has the greatest impact on improving the sense of place through the indicators of bodily perception, sense of belonging and emotional attachment. تفاصيل المقالة

Research has shown the effect of classroom environment variables on students’ learning performance. Color, as a variable in the interior space, has great impacts on the audience’s perception of the environment. Using students’ color preferences in classes can have a significant effect on the quality of their learning. Numerous factors can affect people’s color preferences, but the question is whether educational background plays a role or not. The present study aims to evaluate the effect of educational background on students’ color preferences, so that an appropriate color will be chosen for classroom interiors to improve the quality of learning in educational environments based on the impact of choosing a given color. A total of 618 undergraduate participants majoring in computer sciences and architecture from both males and females were evaluated. In a qualitative questionnaire, students were asked to choose their first color preference as the color of the classroom interior, and then their favorite color was chosen from among the 12 main colors of the color cycle in addition to 3 achromatic colors. SPSS and Pearson's chi-squared test were used to evaluate this test. The results indicated that there is no significant relationship between students’ choice of color and their educational background in both majors (computer and architecture). However, the students’ color preferences in choosing a color for the interior of the classroom in both disciplines are affected by their educational background. This research helps us understand how to use color in the learning environments to increase the quality of learning. تفاصيل المقالة
