The study adopted a semi-structured interview and physical appraisal of the selected major departments within the study area. Also, a literature review of past studies on hospital buildings was done to buttress and advocate for the importance of architectural spaces design for healing and humanization of the users in the hospital environment. Factors of architectural space design in hospital buildings were identified and classified through the literature of past studies and a conceptual framework was developed through it. These factors were categorized under the following headings. This includes functional design factors (FDF), aesthesis design factors (ADF), environmental design factors (EDF), security & safety design factors (SSDF), and Physiological & Psychosocial design factors (PPDF). The study provides information on the importance of architectural space design on overall hospital performance. This study contributes to methods of evaluating architectural space design quality in hospital buildings in Nigeria and a similar context. تفاصيل المقالة -

Through survey method, eight hostels were purposively selected tocapture variation in gender, level of study and hostel design. The sampling frame showed that 5605 students at UI werefound in 2,147 rooms. One out of every 10 (10%) of the rooms were selected which amounted to 215 students selected.The result shows that the functional qualities of the hostels were perceived among the students to be well aboveaverage (55.3%). Similarly, both aesthetics (95.8%) and structural (89.3%) qualities of the hostels were perceived tobe excellent among the students. Also, respondents were satisfied with various services and amenities provided in theHalls of Residence (54.4%) and 35.3% expressed neutral satisfaction. The study concluded that, Physical qualities andSatisfaction are important in the study of Students’ Housing Design. تفاصيل المقالة
