Introduction: Social policies and health innovations are key factors in improving health system performance and enhancing social welfare in developing countries. These countries, due to financial constraints, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, and social inequalities, require more efficient policymaking in this area than other nations. Given the role of social policies in increasing access to healthcare services and reducing inequalities, as well as the impact of health innovations on improving the quality of medical services, it is essential to examine both factors simultaneously. Therefore, the aim of this research is to econometrically analyze the impact of social policies and health innovations on health system performance and social welfare in developing countries.
Methods: The sample of this study consists of 15 developing countries, selected based on access to reliable data. The study period covers the years 2010 to 2023. The research method is based on the simultaneous equations system model (SUR), which accounts for the interdependence between health system performance and social welfare.
Results: The findings of the research show that social policies have a significant positive effect on health system performance with a coefficient of 1.263 and on social welfare with a coefficient of 0.178. Additionally, health innovations have a significant positive impact on health system performance with a coefficient of 0.056 and on social welfare with a coefficient of 0.0032.
Conclusion: Overall, the results of this study confirm that investment in social policies and health innovations not only improves health indicators but also enhances social welfare. These findings highlight the need for increased government support, the development of health technologies, and the implementation of targeted social policies in developing countries.
