Abstract :
Benzothiazole (BTA) and its derivatives are a notable category of heterocyclic chemicals frequently encountered in natural goods and pharmacological drugs. These compounds exhibit a wide range of biological activities, supported by their structural versatility, which has paved the way for developing innovative therapeutic drugs. BTA derivatives demonstrate extensive pharmacological potential, including anticancer, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antioxidant, anticonvulsant, antituberculosis, antidiabetic, antimalarial, and other medicinal properties. The rapid and dynamic progress in medicinal chemistry focusing on BTA has yielded promising advancements in creating compounds with improved efficacy and reduced toxicity. This review highlights the contemporary developments in BTA-based therapeutics and their applications in addressing various diseases. The evolving strategies in this field aim to design BTA-containing drugs that are more potent, safer, and effective for disease treatment and diagnosis. This review study emphasized the structural activity relationship of benzothiazole derivatives and also highlighted the various biological actions of its derivatives.
