One of the important decisions which impacts all firms’ activities is the supplier selection problem. Since the 1950s, several works have addressed this problem by treating different aspects and instances. In this paper, a combined multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) technique (EA-PROMETHEE) has been applied to implement a proper decision making. To this aim, after reviewing the theoretical background regarding to supplier selection, the extension analysis (EA) is used to determine the importance of criteria and PROMETHEE for appraisal of suppliers based on the criteria. An empirical example illustrated the proposed approach. Manuscript profile

An important issue for suppliers, producers, and retailers who want to compete in a competitive environment is continuous performance improvement in a dynamic supply chain. Literature review on supply chain puts more emphasis on quantitative factors than other factors. In this research, we focus on quantitative factors which affect competitive advantages creation and investigation. Our goal is to examine the qualitative factors which affect the supply chain management (e.g. supply chain uncertainty, plant location, and manufacturing practices) based on performance evaluation models and at last we give some solutions to improve the performance. Questionnaire was used to collect data and regression statistical method to examine the research hypothesis. According to the results, plant location, supply chain uncertainty and manufacturing practices factors influenced petrochemical industry supply chain performance. Manuscript profile

One of the most important activities in the management of input items of a company is focusing on the process of purchasing, supplier selection and allocating order to suppliers. Decisions about supplier selection due to simultaneously taking inconsistent and diverse issues into account in a wide range of strategic to operational factors, and from quantitative to qualitative criteria will be complex by nature. In order to select the best suppliers it is necessary to make a trade-off between these tangible and intangible factors some of which may conflict. When business volume discounts exist, this problem becomes more complicated. In this paper a multi-objective model for order allocation under volume discount conditions is presented. In this context, suppliers offer price discounts on total business volume. A solution methodology is presented to solve the multi-objective model, and the model is illustrated using a numerical example. Studying various combinations of constraints such as capacity, timely delivery, disadvantages and cost, taking into account quantity discounts, considering the weight of the suppliers in order allocation and integration of these cases with each other, have made the current research quite unique. The increase of international competition motivated most of the organizations to create useful shared mutual cooperation with supply chain partners since they understood that cooperation and collaboration of supply chain partners is the prerequisite for the increase of reliability level and the decrease of risks and also the enhancement of innovative qualities and profitability of the companies in recent competitive and dynamic market. Integration of supply chain is an important strategy in creating cooperation and collaboration among different elements of supply chain, and plays a vital role in the enhancement of performance of the companies in supply chain. The objective of the present study is to investigate the effect of supply chain integration on the performance of car part manufacturing companies. Current study follows a descriptive, analytical approach in which the correlation between the variables of sample under study is investigated. This sample includes 81 company which produce car parts with a grade A of SAPCO Company. Samples were selected through census in the initial phase. However in the second phase sampling was done through improbable and judgmental sampling. In order to testify hypothesis PLS method was used. The result of this study indicates that there is a direct effect between supply chain integration and improvement of operational performance of companies under investigation. Manuscript profile

The present research aims to identify the factors affecting the green supply chain in the steel industry with a combined approach. The research is an applied study in type, an exploratory study in goal, a quantitative and qualitative study in data type, and a field study in procedure, in which questionnaire and interview were used as the research instrument. The statistical population was composed of the experts of the steel industry, out of whom 25 experts were selected as the statistical sample by the purposive technique. Data were analyzed by the fuzzy DEMATEL and fuzzy network process analysis in the SPSS21 and MS-Excel software packages. Then, the fuzzy Delphi technique was used, resulting in the identification of five criteria and 25 subcriteria. Then, the fuzzy DEMATEL was employed to determine the influence and dependence of the factors according to which among the main factors, the environment factor was the most influential with an influence value of 0.792 and the financial factor was the most dependent factor with a net dependence value of -0.996. Also, the identified factors were ranked by the fuzzy analytical network process. The results show that the financial factor has the highest weight. Also, the other factors are in the order of environmental, quality, environment, and technology in terms of importance. Manuscript profile

Cross-docking is the practice of unloading Coronavirus vaccines from inbound delivery vehicles and loading them directly onto outbound vehicles. Cross-docking can streamline supply chains and help them move Coronavirus vaccines to pharmacies faster and more efficiently by eliminating or minimizing warehouse storage costs, space requirements, and inventory handling. Regarding their short shelf-life, the movement of Coronavirus vaccine to cross-dock and their freight scheduling is of great importance. Achieving the goals of green logistics in order to reduce fuel consumption and emission of pollutants has been considered in this study. Accordingly, the present study developed a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model for routing and scheduling of cross-dock and transportation in green reverse logistics network of Coronavirus vaccines. The model was multi-product and multi-level and focused on minimizing the logistics network costs to increase efficiency, reduce fuel consumption and pollution, maximizing the consumption value of delivered Coronavirus vaccines and minimizing risk of injection complication due to Coronavirus vaccines corruption. Considering cost minimization (i.e., earliness and tardiness penalty costs of pharmacies order delivery, cost of fuel consumption and environmental pollution caused by outbound vehicles crossover, the inventory holding costs at the temporary storage area of the cross-dock and costs of crossover and use of outbound vehicles) as well as uncertainty in pharmacies demand for Coronavirus vaccines, the model was an NP-hard problem. In this model, the problem-solving time increased exponentially according to the problem dimensions; hence, this study proposed an efficient method using the NSGA II algorithm. Manuscript profile

Phosphorus is a basic constituent of chemical fertilizers and plays a pivotal role in crop yield enhancement in agriculture systems. Considering the growing demands for phosphorus and the limited resources of this vital substance, sustainable supply chain management (SCM) of chemical fertilizers is of great importance. In the present study, a mathematical model for sustainable chemical fertilizer SCM is presented. Taking into account the adverse environmental effects of the production and consumption of chemical fertilizers, the present study attempts to design a sustainable SCM concerning economic, environmental, and social factors. To solve the problem, a hybrid metaheuristic algorithm incorporating whale optimization and simulated annealing is used considering a multi-objective function. The simulation results obtained from a real case study of the chemical fertilizers supply chain network in Iran proved the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed model and solution method. Obtained results show the effectiveness of the proposed method compared with other algorithms with respect to economic, social, and environmental factors. Manuscript profile

This study provides an inventory control model for determining the optimal replenishment cycle of obsolete items, in which the customer demand is regarded as a decreasing function of time in sudden obsolescence. Further, to encourage the buyer for more purchasing, the seller can allow the buyer to pay the cost with a delay. Accordingly, the present paper focuses on investigating an inventory control model for obsolete items while considering a trade credit policy with time-dependent demand and sudden obsolescence. Given the nonlinearity of the proposed model, the Taylor series approximation was used to solve it. In addition, to avoiding the effect of Taylor series approximation on the optimal solution, an efficient particle swarm optimization meta-heuristic algorithm was applied to find the near-optimal solution, indicating better answers. Numerical examples in the case study of mobile phone wholesale industry, were considered and solved to demonstrate the validation of the proposed model. Finally, a sensitivity analysis was performed on the effects of the main parameters on the total profit and replenishment cycle time. The numerical results indicated that the inclusion of obsolescence risk in the inventory model with obsolete items has a significant effect on increasing profits while reducing the costs of these items.
