Abstract :
This study aimed to assess Iranian general practitioners, pediatricians, and dentists' knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding pediatric oral health. In this cross-sectional study, a researcher-designed questionnaire with four sections of demographic information, knowledge, attitude, and practice was used for data collection and administered among 175 general practitioners, 20 pediatricians, and 102 general dentists practicing in Ahwaz city, Iran. The results were analyzed by the Kruskal-Wallis test and Pearson’s correlation coefficient (α = 0.05). The mean pediatric oral health knowledge score was 7.69 for general practitioners, 7.71 for pediatricians, and 7.54 for general dentists, out of 10. The mean attitude score was 16.7 for general practitioners, 16.86 for pediatricians, and 17 for general dentists, out of 20. The mean practice score was 22.12 for general practitioners, 20.57 for pediatricians, and 22.50 for general dentists, out of 30. The difference among the three groups was not significant in any parameter (P > 0.05). Knowledge and practice had no significant association (P > 0.05). The present results showed high knowledge, attitude, and practice of general practitioners, pediatricians, and dentists practicing in Ahwaz City regarding pediatric oral health.
