During the last three decades, the concept of integrated decision making in the supply chain becomes one of the essential aspects of supply chain management (SCM). This concept explores the interdependence between facility location, flow allocation between facilities, transportation system structure, and inventory control system. This study presents a new form of the location-routing problem of facilities under uncertainty in a supply chain network for deteriorating items through taking environmental considerations, cost, and procurement time and customer satisfaction into account, to simultaneously minimize total system costs, maximal delivery time and emissions across the entire network and maximize customer satisfaction. The research problem is formulated in a mixed-integer nonlinear multi-objective programming. In order to solve the model, the combination of the two Benders decomposition algorithm and Lagrange multiplier liberalization, as well as the combination of red deer algorithm and annealing simulation, was proposed. For validation, the results of the proposed algorithm in different size examples are compared with the results of the exact method solution by MATLAB software. The mean error of the proposed algorithm for the objective function is less than 4% compared to the exact method in solving the sample problems. Besides, the results of the algorithm performance are investigated based on standard indices. The computational results show the efficiency of the algorithm for a wide range of problems with different sizes. The location decisions are interdependent, and the process of determining the optimal values of these variables interact together, which can lead to an optimal system. پرونده مقاله

Wastewater treatment has been a challenge for beverage companies in recent years which has led them to establish specific units to purify the expired returning items before agricultural uses or disposal. This issue has never been studied from the perspective of inventory and production management. This paper proposes an inventory formulation in the case of Behnoush beverage company in Iran to determine the replenishment cycle and the optimal selling price of items when: (a) items deteriorate continuously and have their specific expiration dates, (b) a proportion of items that are expired are moved to the company and after the process of wastewater treatment, and (c) a trade credit period is offered to the buyer to make encouragement for ordering in larger quantities. Optimality conditions for the total cost function are elaborated. Thereafter, numerical experiments are adopted for validation. Eventually, managerial implications are outlined and findings of the study are summarized. پرونده مقاله

In this paper, we considered a deterministic inventory model with time-dependent demand and time-varying holding cost where deterioration is time proportional. The model considered here allows for shortages, and the demand is partially backlogged. The model is solved analytically by minimizing the total inventory cost. The result is illustrated with numerical example for the model. The model can be applied to optimize the total inventory cost for the business enterprises where both the holding cost and deterioration rate are time dependent. پرونده مقاله

4 - Retailer’s optimal credit period and cycle time in a supply chain for deteriorating items with up-stream and down-stream trade credits

In practice, the supplier often offers the retailers a trade credit period M and the retailer in turn provides a trade credit period N to her/his customer to stimulate sales and reduce inventory. From the retailer’s perspective, granting trade credit not only increases sales and revenue but also increases opportunity cost (i.e., the capital opportunity loss during credit period) and default risk (i.e., the percentage that the customer will not be able to pay off his/her debt obligations). Hence, how to determine credit period is increasingly recognized as an important strategy to increase retailer’s profitability. Also, the selling items such as fruits, fresh fishes, gasoline, photographic films, pharmaceuticals and volatile liquids deteriorate continuously due to evaporation, obsolescence and spoilage. In this paper, we propose an economic order quantity model for the retailer where (1) the supplier provides an up-stream trade credit and the retailer also offers a down-stream trade credit, (2) the retailer’s down-stream trade credit to the buyer not only increases sales and revenue but also opportunity cost and default risk, and (3) the selling items are perishable. Under these conditions, we model the retailer’s inventory system as a profit maximization problem to determine the retailer’s optimal replenishment decisions under the supply chain management. We then show that the retailer’s optimal credit period and cycle time not only exist but also are unique. We deduce some previously published results of other researchers as special cases. Finally, we use some numerical examples to illustrate the theoretical results. پرونده مقاله

In this paper, an economic order quantity (EOQ) inventory model for a deteriorating item is developed with the following characteristics: (i) The demand rate is deterministic and two-staged, i.e., it is constant in first part of the cycle and linear function of time in the second part. (ii) Deterioration rate is time-proportional. (iii) Shortages are not allowed to occur. The optimal cycle time and the optimal order quantity have been derived by minimizing the total average cost. A simple solution procedure is provided to illustrate the proposed model. The article concludes with a numerical example and sensitivity analysis of various parameters as illustrations of the theoretical results. پرونده مقاله

Classical deterministic inventory models consider the demand rate to be either constant or time-dependent but independent from the stock status. However, for a certain type of inventory, the demand rate may be in-fluenced by the stock level. Also in many real-life problems, some products such as fruits, vegetables, phar-maceuticals and volatile liquids continuously deteriorate to evaporation, obsolescence, spoilage, etc. In this paper, a multi-deteriorating inventory model with shortage in fuzzy form is formulated and solved where the demand’s pattern has a linear trend. In this paper, we present a multi-objective inventory model of deteriorat-ing items in fuzzy environment with the consideration of shortage in the problem formulation. The demand here is assumed with a linear trend and the shortage is allowed for all items. The objectives of maximizing net profit of the inventory system and minimizing the total annual cost of deteriorated items are considered subject to the total cost and the storage area. The vagueness in the objectives is expressed by fuzzy linear membership functions and the resulted fuzzy models are transferred into a non-linear programming and solved using Fuzzy Non-Linear Programming (FNLP) method. The implementation of the model is presented with some numerical examples and finally the results of two fuzzy models are compared. پرونده مقاله

Determining supplier and optimum order of the quantity is an issue of great importance in logistics management for many companies. In this regard, it is crucial to determine the best decisions for the order quantity as well as the most suitable supplier through considering existing limitations and uncertainties. To optimize a multi-product, multi-period model with select supplier for deteriorating products, while uncertainty of future economic conditions directly affects the problem conditions. In this regard, a mixed integer definite programing model is introduced, and afterwards, the proper robust structure is established through a two-phase scenario-based approach. The behavior of the main features of the inventory system elaborated upon in this article, that is, multi-product, uni-level, multi-period inventory system, has been modeled under the influence of uncertain economic environment. In the final phase pattern, search method is employed to determine proper answers, the results of which are analyzed, to shed light on various aspects of the solving procedure, as well as the problem itself. The applicability of the proposed model is shown by an illustrative example. پرونده مقاله

In this paper, a production inventory model is developed for the business enterprise which consists of three wings. The first wing is for manufacturing new items, the second wing is for collecting the returned items, while third wing is for remanufacturing the returned item. In this model we consider the fact that the storage item is deteriorated during storage periods and salvage value is incorporated to the deteriorated items. The demand, deterioration, production, remanufacturing and return rates are time dependent. The shortages are allowed and fully backlogged. The model is solved analytically by minimizing the total inventory cost. The model can be applied for optimizing the total inventory cost of deteriorating items inventory under reverse logistic for a business enterprise where demand and deterioration both is function of time. پرونده مقاله
