The Effect of Social Capital (In-group and Out-group) on the Students Mental Health (Case Study: Students of Tabriz University)

Social capital is as a kind of capital accumulation that causes social solidarity, social commitment and thus improves self-esteem and social health. Erosion of social capital and the turmoil at the macro and micro levels lead to a variety of social and psychological issues and damages. This study aims to investigate the impact of social capital (in-group and out-group) on the mental health of university students in Tabriz and the relationship between the two variables. The method of this study was survey in which statistical population was all students of Tabriz University in three undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate and 300 students by using random sampling method and Cochran formula have been studied. The study is designed to assess the mental health of students using Goldberg General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28) and the Questionnaire made by the authors. In the present study we used Pearson Correlation for data analysis. The results showed that the there is a positive relationship between social capital (in-group and out-group) and mental health and also there is a significant and reverse relationship between social capital (in-group and out-group) and anxiety, social dysfunction and depression. The study reveals that the social capital (in-group and out-group) has no significant correlation with physical symptoms.
سرمایه اجتماعی نوعی انباشت که همبستگی اجتماعی، تعهد اجتماعی و در نتیجه نوعی عزت نفس و سلامتی را در افراد به وجود می‌آورد. فرسایش سرمایه اجتماعی و نابسامانی در سطوح کلان و خرد منبع اصلی زایش و افزایش انواع مسائل و آسیب‌های اجتماعی و روانی است. پژوهش حاضر با هدف بررسی تأثیر سرمایه اجتماعی(درون گروهی و برون گروهی) بر سلامت روان دانشجویان دانشگاه تبریز و نحوه ارتباط بین این دو متغییر صورت گرفته است. پژوهش حاضر با روش پیمایشی انجام گرفته و جامعه آماری پژوهش، کلیه دانشجویان دانشگاه تبریز در سه مقطع کارشناسی، کارشناسی ارشد و دکتری می‌باشد که در بین آنها، 300 نفر با استفاده از فرمول کوکران و روش نمونه‌گیری تصادفی مورد مطالعه قرارگرفته است. در تحقیق حاضر برای سنجش سلامت روانی از پرسشنامه سلامت عمومی (GHQ-28) گلدبرگ و پرسشنامه محقق ساخته سرمایه-اجتماعی استفاده شد. آزمون‌های آماری همبستگی پیرسون، برای تجزیه و تحلیل داده‌ها استفاده شده است. نتایج پژوهش نشان داد که رابطه معناداری بین سرمایه اجتماعی(درون گروهی و برون گروهی) با سلامت روان وجود دارد و بین سرمایه اجتماعی (درون گروهی و برون گروهی) با اضطراب، اختلال در کارکرد اجتماعی و افسردگی رابطه معناداری به صورت معکوس وجود دارد و از دیگر نتایج تحقیق اینکه بین سرمایه اجتماعی(درون گروهی و برون گروهی) با علائم جسمانی رابطه معناداری وجود ندارد.
