Methods for inducing resistance in plants are generally divided into two main categories: natural and chemical. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness, sustainability, and environmental impacts of these two approaches in pest management and to provide guidance for selecting the most optimal method. The necessity of this research lies in preserving environmental health, reducing the use of chemical pesticides, and improving agricultural sustainability. Natural methods include the use of biological agents such as microorganisms and symbiotic fungi, which stimulate the plant's defense system and provide long-term resistance. These methods have positive effects on plant health and the environment and reduce the likelihood of pest resistance development. On the other hand, chemical methods are widely used due to their rapid and broad-spectrum effects and can quickly reduce pest infestation levels in emergency situations. However, repeated application of these chemicals may lead to soil degradation, environmental pollution, and the emergence of pesticide-resistant pests. The findings of this study indicate that natural methods, due to their long-term effects and lower environmental risks, are more suitable for sustainable agriculture, while chemical methods are effective in addressing urgent pest outbreaks. Combining both approaches can enhance efficiency and mitigate negative impacts. These results can assist farmers and producers in making more informed decisions regarding pest management strategies.
