چکیده مقاله :
The purpose of the present study is to investigate the effective role of youth in encouraging citizens to participate in society and help the government in preserving the environment. In this article, considering the crises and challenges that the government and society have been facing regarding the environment from the past to the present, the method in this research is qualitative research with a grounded theory approach. In this study, interviews were conducted with 24 environmental experts. The method of selecting targeted participants and determining their number was determined by reaching data saturation. The research findings were presented after three stages of open, axial, and selective coding. "Functional decay", as a central phenomenon, refers to the current challenging conditions and the effective role that young people play in encouraging and persuading citizens to participate socially in preserving the environment, as well as the positive impact that young people can have in this area. The results of this study show that the role of the government in damaging the environment has been greater than the role of citizens, and if the government can take action to raise young people who are compassionate, committed, and responsible towards the environment and their surroundings, perhaps these same young people can help the government to build trust and motivate social participation among citizens.
