چکیده مقاله :
Background: Considering the importance of the new generation of universal bonds and the methods that increase their bond strength to enamel & dentine, this study aimed to investigate the effect of activation on dentine bond strength in universal bonding with two etching and non-etching methods. Materials and methods:In this experimental laboratory study, 96 healthy premolar teeth were extracted in the orthodontic treatment plan, and no more than 6 months had passed since their extraction was selected. The samples were divided into 6 groups of 16, including Group 1: Dentin Etched & Universal Bond Apply Active with Rubbing, Group 2:Dentin Etched & Universal Bond Apply Active with Sonic device, Group 3:Dentin Etched & Universal Bond Apply without Activation,Group 4: Non-Etching & Universal Bond Apply Active with Rubbing, Group 5: Non-Etching & Universal Bond Apply Active with Sonic device, and Group 6:Non-Etching & Universal Bond Apply without Activation. After bonding, the composite cylinders were connected to the conditioning surface, and then the samples were transferred to the Instron machine to check their strength. The data were analyzed by two-way analysis of variance and Tukey's post hoc test. Results:The highest bond strength was related to group 5, and the lowest was related to group 1. The mean dentine bond strength in the non-etching etching method increased significantly compared to the etching method.Regarding the effect of the activation method on dentine bond strength, in the etching method, the mean dentine bond strength did not differ significantly between the three methods of activation. However, in the non-etching method, the mean dentine bond strength in active sonic bonding was higher than in without activation bonding, and in without activation bonding was higher than applied active with rubbing. Conclusion:Using a sonic device and avoiding dentin acid etching before bonding can increase dentine bond strength in universal bonding.
