Abstract The purpose of the present study is to be considered as an applied research. The method of this research was like correlation research that specifically was based on the structural equation model. In this study, library studies, papers and research related to the subject of research are used for collecting subject literature and also for another part of information needed, questionnaire and field method are used. In this study, two methods of descriptive statistics (frequency, frequency percentage, mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (correlation analysis, regression and structural equation model) were used for analyzing data. In order to increase the accuracy of data analysis, the related software such as SPSS and AMOS have been used. The statistical population of the present study includes experts and urban experts and administrators of city affairs departments in Ahvaz metropolis who have been active in the field of infill urban development and have executive experience in this field. The statistical population of the present study have sampled this community and also data source is used to answer the main research question. The results showed, the impact factor on infill development in Ahvaz metropolis is acquired by five components of economic, social, environmental, functional and physical, namely, the correlation coefficients between the impact assessment and each of the five components are 0, 0.75, 0.66, 0.55 and 0.78, respectively. Referring to standard error estimates, critical ratios, and meaningful levels show that all of these standard estimates are meaningful at 99%. Therefore, based on the results, the most indirect effects on the evaluation of the effective indicators on infill development in the Ahvaz metropolis with the sustainable development approach are related to the observed variables of avoiding displacement of residents during project execution (S6 or X12), Land prices in the target area (E5 or X18), access to the passageway (Ph9 or X8), permitted density (Ph14 or X10), construction cost (E11 or X19), access to urban facilities (Ph1 or X6), Residents income (E2 or X24) and Local Contribution (S2 or X17). Regarding these coefficients, the least effect is on functional variables and the most influences are related to economic and physical variables. It should be noted that the meaningful level for all direct final effects is reported based on standard error and critical ratios. The meaningful levels are for all direct final effects which smaller than 0.01. Therefore, it can be concluded that all direct effects obtained at the 99% confidence level are meaningful.
