  The purpose of the current research is to analyze the challenges and opportunities affecting the political development in Iraq. The research method was descriptive-analytical and the results showed that the factors affecting the political development in Iraq, in the period from 1920 to 2002, were in two areas of challenges with indicators such as the structure of tradition, the weakness of civil society, etc.; And in the field of opportunities, it can be checked with indicators such as the presence of oil, geopolitical position, etc. Although the path of development in Iraq has never been smooth, but considering that no society can ever be observed in stagnation and stagnation, and relying on the fact that development is a long and time-consuming matter, we can see the future of Iraq in the realization of the path Political development was promising.
